Less of that or I'll have to ban you! :)

Very disappointed that he is to retire but it had to happen sometime. He is my favourite player of all time, a fantastic player and a great man. Would be great if he could qualify for the Premier League next year and go out with a bang. He will be missed!

Hopefully he changes his mind though!

if he is playing well next year he will stay ,after his health problems this last few years there might be a come back in him ..

did he not look very well for a man of his age .

never really liked watching him but a fantasitic player and the game will be less with out the "menace"

I remember a great game (premier league 2-3 years ago) when he and barney went back to back 180's and then back to back 180's. Yes both on a nine darter in the same leg.
barney missed his chance "the menace" missed his and barney won the leg!

Imagine hitting back to back 180's in a leg and lossing!!!!!:(

Great player to watch back a few years ago. Terrible that the illness hit him when it did...he could have been a major player over the past few years if it wasnt for that.

He seems to have recovered well tho and is playing at a good level now again. Im surprised he is packing it in. Bit too soon i think and i can see him changing his mind by end of year.

With darts exploding in popularity, the game needs Priestly, not just as a thrower but as a gentleman. The likes of Roy and Nicholson could learn alot from him

+1. I usually turn over when preistley is playing because he is that slow, its impossible to watch.

He may have been slow but god damn it could the man play darts loved watching every minute he played looking at his concentration his coolness on the oche the respect he showed every player he played and the respect every player showed him how many on this forum can honestly say that dennis was one of the reason's they started to play darts with all the young lads coming thru the ranks how many of them in there youths watched with admiration at this man throw darts when he finally store's the tungsten away he will be missed as a player and as the picture of darting royalty

A really sound fella is Dennis, I had him as a doubles partner around 8 years ago in Irvinstown in the pro-am and enjoyed the time think we got to the quater finals he was doing the scoring and I was doing the finishing!

As was said above he might be slow to throw but better that than acting the maggott like Mardle who will try any stunt to put a player off.

Let's hope he will be in next years Premier League he should be given a wild card it would be a great send off for him.

Ah the PDC will give him a wildcard in his final year, is nothing else its like a financial testimonial

i mean if he made the finals in wembley he's recieve 30k

I think priestley last night showed his fun side (The Walk on) his gentleman side (Auction for charity) his experience and class (never being out of a leg with taylor) and his professionalism (the concentration and respect despite crowd booing taylor)

Fantastic Darts Player, a gent to boot, i've missed him over the last while, was delighted to see him win on the floor recently and he may yet EARN the right to be there next year

Great comments lads, Priestley was the player that got me into darts. He was the one I always wanted to watch and the one that inspired to geta board and learn to throw. Yes he is slow but for someone who is truely into their darts this shouldn't matter. He has the best concentration you will ever see, he never lets anything phase him and he is also never beaten. Some of the best comebacks have involved Dennis. I will never forget that Matchplay game against Taylor that went to distance. Priestley played some amazing darts and the finishing he took out in that game was unreal. He hit a 156 with Taylor ona double to save the match, the best finish I have ever seen.

Hopefully he qualifies to be in the Premier League by right next year.

not only that, it would be a testament to the man that after his health issues and age he managed to get into the top 6 in professional darts

it would be a fairytale finish to a fairytale career
