Problem Transferring Files From Shared Folders

    Hello

Basically, I have one laptop with shared folders that I use to download stuff onto. I can then using another laptop copy the files over or just access them from there. Problem is some files, mainly video files cannot be copied over or even accessed even though they're in the same shared folder as other accessible files. Does anybody have any technical knowledge why this may be the case? If you need any more extra info let me know.

    Thanks;)

What size are they in total? Those particular files.

Video files are 175mb, 350mb, 700mb. The usual file size for these type of video. It's hit and miss really, because this evening I was able to copy a 1.2gb mkv file no problem over. I don't thing these type of files are protected. I have avi files from my camcorder also, some come over some don't. Sometimes I put them into another shared folder and then they copy over. Very strange really. The laptop these are on has XP Pro installed while this laptop is dual XP/Win 7 if that makes any difference

That is odd, I would have to assume its a rights issue on the files themselves. I don't have a xp machine around to be sure of, but you can check in the advanced part of the sharing centre to check read and write permissions and apply the settings to all files and subfolders.

As you can see from screenshot to illustrate exactly what happens, I can play/copy vid 2 and vid 3 but not vid 1 and vid 4. They are all the same show.
