    Hi folks,

Just wondering how easy/hard it is to replace a roof mounted aerial on a 2001 Santa Fe. I'm not great at DIY but I'm willing to give it a go. It's a manual aerial. Would it require cutting the wires or anything like that or is it as simple as unscrewing the base and pulling the wire out and cliping onto the new aerial? Also what type of aerial should I get? Are they universal or are there specific ones for each make model?

    Thanks.

Presuming your entire aeriel is broken and not just the screw-in bit:

It's bolted in from inside the car, and the nut that holds it onto the body is also where the aeriel wire attaches to the aeriel.

you may be able to access the nut if you remove the electric mirror switch/clock/lighting unit

As for which one to get:

Get the proper one from the main dealer, there is a locating hole to keep the aeriel straight, and this is specific to Hyundais, so a universal one won't be the job. also the aeriel has the potential to leak water, so you're better off using the one that was designed for the car.
