Flying Aer Lingus - changing airport

    Hello

I'm usually a Ryanair girl so need some help with aer Lingus, I've tried the website but can't find what I'm looking for.

First issue: I'm flying from Dublin to Heathrow the end of May. Things have changed and I'll now be in Cork at the time of flying, is it possible to change airport or will they beat me if I suggest such a thing.
And then if I cancel, will I get any money back?

Second: luggage allowance: I'm flying to India for work, and have to write a thesis while there, so I'll have a lot of stuff. From London-India I have 40kg, from Ireland-London, only 20. Can I get this bumped up at all? I've heard stories of people ringing and giving a sob story and getting bumped up, is this urban legend?

    Thanks!

    It's most likely a legend...

You will be able to change your departure airport to Cork for a fee (plus the difference in the cost of the flights). If you were to cancel your flight, you'd only get your taxes back, but minus an admin charge which would most likely make it not worth your while.

Aer Lingus usually honour the allowance of the onward carrier if the booking is a single booking (ie Dublin - LHR - India) but if the flights are booked separately, then you only get your 20kg.

Thanks very much for that. Yea, it's separate booking. Just realised Aer Lingus only fly to London from Cork late in the evening on Sunday's so it'd be no good to me anyway.

I really don't understand why this was moved. I didn't want replies from people who go on package holidays, the question was about travelling independently, hence why it was in the Independent Travel forum.
    Anyone care to enlighten me?

You question was about a flight change, and luggage allowance - more suitable for here.

Just look at the kind of threads on this forum vs the kind of threads on the Independent & Youth & Student travel forum to gauge what each is for.
