Adobe Reader 9 problems

Hi there,
On older versions of Adobe reader, I used to be able to scan foreign documents as PDF's, then open them, copy and paste the text into google and translate into English. On the latest version of Adobe Reader 9, I cannot do that. It will only allow me to copy the text as an image or picture. Has anybody any ideas as to how to get around this?
Thanks in advance.

You sure you didn't have adobe pro?

Either way you could look at some free alternative converters which should convert the pdf to a text document or software that converts the image directly to a text document.

Just what I was thinking. Reader basically lets you do **** all except read. Pro is the editing tool.
