    Hi

I'm looking for some information on classic cars. can a classic car - on black ZV registration plate - be exported to another EU country?? can it be used outside Ireland??

Is there any restriction on classic cars here??

    Cheers

    Greg

Don't know too much about exporting but in theory I don't see why a classic can't be exported as it very commom pratice on the continent.

Maybe some here can give you more info.

I would presume the most important place to get the exact information is from the local authorities in the country you wish to export to. I can't see there being any issues from the Irish authorities.

being on a ZV plate makes no difference in any respect. Just the same as any other car in the respects you refer to.

I read an article on a classic oval window VW (Irish assembled) that had been sourced in Ireland and restored in Australia.

I know of one ZV reg'd Fiat that was exported to UK a couple of weeks ago, no problem.

You get a break on tax, insurance, VRT and NCT but it's just a normal car in every other respect.

I exported an Irish reg Porsche 911 only two weeks ago into the Netherlands, and as everyone states, the fact that a car is 30+ years old and bears either a ZV reg or any other reg, does not make any difference.

Wether you can use a classic (or any Irish reg. car for that matter) outside of Ireland is only restricted by your Insurance policy.

Basic cover level in the EU country of use. Limited periods only.

Looking at the OP's question. Where do you intend to use it and what local laws are you trying to circumvent? ;)
