I've tried both (as well as a good few other brands) and I'd not switch from MyProtein. Cheap, great quality and tastes like the business. Supp Factory stuff didn't taste great, and their casein was so lumpy.

If you do decide to go with MyProtein, see my sig.

I'm guessing your diet is up to scratch?

They sell flavoured protein, or else you can get the unflavoured and a seperate flavouring, if you want.

Thanks for all your advice guys.
As for my diet. Its ok but could probably improve a good bit.
    Breakfast: Weetabix& wholemeal toast
    Lunch: Wholemeal roll/sandwich w/ meat & 3 salads.
Dinner:Could be anything. meat w/veg,pasta,rice or potatoes. Or it could be bolognese, sweet&sour pork, curry or enchiladas etc.
i also eat lots of fruit.

id say personally my main problem is too much carbohydrates and not enough protein so thats why i take the protein shakes

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,122 ✭✭✭✭Jimmy Bottlehead

Throw in a couple high protein snacks... pack of chicken, nuts, couple eggs, that sort of thing...

Lots of carbs is only a problem if they're making you put on unwanted weight or making you sluggish.

How do you get around the infuriating postcode request on myprotein?? We're in fcuking Ireland. We don't have fcuking post codes.

00000 should do for any post code request on any website.

Are you looking to lose fat?

Why not change your diet, get rid of the wholemeal toast/roll at breakfast and lunch. Have a salad w/ chicken etc at lunch instead.

Get rid of the pasta/potatoes for dinner.

The reason you're not getting enough protein is because you're not eating any (or very very little)!

Have to say for a few extra quid ill support an irish distributor.I can over look taste, just add your own ingredients.

Its a bit sad with everyone promoting Uk and other overseas distributors while millions are spent abroad and taken out of the country.

This isnt a political forum but everyone whines as there so much jobs lost here yet theyll spend 500 million up north and shop online overseas to save a few quid.

Quite simply, if irish companies wish to compete, they've got to match prices and quality. I'm unemployed but if I can save cash buying from a UK company (thats cheaper AND nicer) then I will buy from that company.

If the Supp Factory match that or beat it, I will buy from them. Simple as.

    It's a double-edged sword.
I just look for high quality at rock bottom prices. Don't care where it comes from. One day, when I'm rich, I'll worry about supporting Irish companies :)

Hanley in relation to the post code, i emailed them and they said to use a dummy post code, they even gave me an example which worked fine, their delivery time is also quite prompt

Just checked my order history and I used 000 as the postcode and it worked out fine for me.

    Aye.

My girlfriend HATED the taste and texture of all my other various shakes, without question. But she loves the mint choc whey. Being honest, you'd drink it for pleasure alone!

Thanks guys. I tried a dummy code originally but I couldn't process payment cos it didn't match my credit card details. 000-0000 worked perfectly tho.

RE: buying Irish. I try to do it when I can, but I find it impossible to justify the price in this case. I got 10lb of protein, 1kg of glutamine, 1kg of waxy maize and a tub of multi vits signed, sealed and delivered for <€100.

Besides, most of the supplement shops sell American and non-Irish gear anyway so I don't feel too guilty. I supported NutritionX for a loooong time and still rate their stuff, but just wanted a change.

No that price was for the entire shipment

The problem with the supplement stores these days is that unless you have a loyal following, exclusivity agreements with certain products (like Mickk has with that cytosport muscle milk (from what I remember) ) or some other barrier to entry - the problem is anyone can set up a supplement store and compete on price alone meaning the non-Irish companies can offer better prices usually due to the amount of bulk buying they do or if they manufacture it themselves, it's cheaper to do it outside of Ireland than in Ireland.*

*what I've been led to believe.

Im not looking to lose much fat to be honest. I only have a bit on my belly and on my back funnily enough. I do plenty of HIIT in the gym and lots of football training besides so its the diet I know I have to change. So im trying to cut out a lot of carbs and take more protein. Its just a roll and fruit at lunchtime is so handy when youre a student.

I've ordered whey from the Supplement Factory on three occasions and I have no problems with them whatsoever. Re. taste - everyone varies but I find the strawberry very, very tasty indeed and the choc orange was pleasant. I'll use them again and they're very quick with delivery.

    Hi just an FYI,

The Supplement Factory is being wound down. I purchased nearly 100 euros worth of goods and the never delivered. They promised a refund after a month of trying to contact them and now I have had to go through my Credit Card company to claim back. On top of that I am now seeing other purchases on my credit card for online shops which I have not authorised...put 2+2 together.

    Keep away!

Wish I had seen this earlier, I bought a tub of stuff last week and have wondered why it hasn't been delivered yet. Fecksake - you think they would stop taking orders or not allow orders to be processed if they weren't in business anymore. Dont know what to do now.

I know this is not the consumer issues forum but anyway....

If your card provider offers a chargeback facility, pay by credit card or by debit card. This may allow you to recover money paid to a trader who has gone out of business. Not all card issuers operate chargeback schemes, and not all credit or debit card products may be included in the scheme, so always check with your provider first. If the business is ultimately liquidated, voucher holders should register with the appointed liquidator as unsecured creditors.

The supplement factory is/was owned by nutrition x, they are not scammers, contact nutrition x if they dont answer, they probably dont check the old sup factory emails anymore.

Well you now know that Nutrition X own thesupplementfactory.com - start making noise at them.

Ok - good to know! I'll give NutX a call tomorrow and see what they say. It's a shame their web store won't work - as it would be nice to see what prices etc they offered.

Cheers for all the help! In hindsight, I should have had a quick search on here for the supplement factory website - last time I used them was over a year ago.
