Advice on digital camera sought

Hi! I am looking for a relatively easy to use digital camera that will be good for both taking images of buildings - so a wide angle lens - and also for taking images of smaller details - i.e. pictures on old letters in archives. I have about €500-€600 to spend. It's for architectural history research, and I just don't have a clue about where to begin looking, or what to look for! Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks!

    Hi NiamhRoisin,

There have been lots of such posts recently so apologies but yours appears to have gotten lost in the wash. As a result of a number of such posts we've put together the ultimate buyer help thread located here. If you give this a run through and if you still have questions at the end of it feel free to post back here again.

    Regards.

I think the Canon 1000D Digital SLR would be right up your street. It has some very pro-like features under the hood such as mirror-lockup. This feature alone is invaluable when shooting inside dark cathedrals as it flips up the mirror inside the camera just before the shot is taken. This helps keep the camera steady at the slow shutters speeds needed inside churches and helps produce a sharper shot.

It's in your price ranges and it also comes with a half day free training if bought from a dealer in the Republic of Ireland,

    Dave
