Rights for Men in terms of Children and Maintenance

I was just reading a personal issue where a man refused to have sex until his parter agreed that if she became pregnant, that she would get an abortion. Its a 2 year relationship, they used protection yet she still became pregnant. The women has now changed her mind and want to keep the baby. The title of the issue is "iv trapped him".

Anyway i was wondering do you think its unfair that if the man doesnt want the child,he still has to support the child economically.I think the laws regarding maintenance should be changed and apply the following.
If a women has an abortion, the father payes half of the abortion.
If a women keeps the baby, the father has the option to support the child.ie if he doesnt want to be part of the baby life and doesnt want to support the child from the very beginning of conception,he has that option.
The father cannot change his mind in terms of maintenance once he begins it,or has arguments with the mother.ie he cannot threaten maintenance after be begins to support the child

As a man, i cant wait to have children when im older.I love the idea of a big family but i still think men should have more rights.

I know your gonna say it takes two to tango, but lets say the situation changed where the women wanted to get rid of the baby, and the man wanted to keep the child. What do you think would happen. It seems unfair that women seem to have all the rights in regard to children, especially as we now see more and more divorce rates.

It may seem very negative and having a negative affect on children but people have the choice to conceive and if one person in the relationship doesnt want to be part of it,why is he forced to by law.

the child has a human right and a desire just to get out of the womb first.

The problem is that you'd never be able to prove who wanted what. It would only be "she said he said", when there's money at stake.

The only way for a bloke to avoid unwanted maintenance is to keep his rubber on every single time I'm afraid.

How about the possibility of legal action before abortion cannot happen that the father does not want to the child..That way it can be proven the father wants no part of the childs life yet is still willing to pay half for an obortion as legal action would be taken during the pregnancy stage.

You have to realise that abortion is illegal in theis country and no court is going to waive maintenance based on the father claiming the mother should have had an abortion.

If you don't want to be a father, don't have sex and if you do have sex take every conceivable :pac: precaution.

Well, again dont want to get into the abortion aspect and my belief is that it should be legal as Its not a child yet until it comes out.Like would the mother be prosicuted if say, she drunk large quantities of alcohol and fags during the pregnancy and the baby died.I dont think so,so why cant she have an obortion?

i Dont want to sound distasteful or anything but thats what i believe in.
