Mature student? Apply for the BTEA and go to the local VEC for a grant. The grant goes by last year's income last I heard.

Eligibility for payment of a Maintenance Grant does not affect eligibility for the BTEA or the rate of payment. In addition, income from part-time work does not affect the basic BTEA payment.

    ^^^ This is on www.studentfinance.ie
From reading that, I think you can apply for both the maintenance grant, and the BTEA.

Re. the maintenance grant, you will need to have been living independantly of your parents since 1st October last year in order to be assessed seperately.
