Hi guys, looking at picking up a 06 honda civic, 1.8 petrol, i-vtec.
It has 58k miles on it, seems like quite a lot for the age of it.
Just wondering if it will still be good for a few more years or has anyone had one or know of any problems.

    cheers!

The mileage isn't crazy high to be honest. True, it should be about 36k miles to be average but on any Honda, 58k miles its barely run in and shouldn't prove to be a bad buy provided its backed up by a full service history (and be a bit cheaper than one with a lower mileage)

Is that miles or kilometers? What condition is the car in? I would not mind that mileage on a 3 year old car if the car is in good condition with a proven service history.

Also factor in what average mileage you do yourself because once it hits 100k miles the typical Irish mentalitiy is that it will implode meaning it will be worthless. If you do tiny mileage or don't change cars frequently then it will make little difference.

Thats in Miles. Yeah the car is in good nick all around and has a service history.
I would probably be doing between 10 and 15k miles a year.

    Thanks lads

As stated, a vehicle with higher mileage that has been serviced accordingly is far better than a vehicle with half the mileage that has not been service accordingly.

Contrary to the norm, Many cars have higher yearly mileage now than they did 15 years ago i.e Alot of folks now live in commuter belts of the major cities.

Check out the service record and satisfy yourself.

Definately check out the service history by ringing the garages that stamped the service book. Civics are very durable but any car that has been abused or poorly maintained will break your heart.

Negotitate hard on the price and warranty too.

Meh mine has 122k miles and it still runs perfect. Go for it. I've seen a fair few ragged to death civic's that still run good. They're unbreakable practically.
