I was using the arm curl for my and i seem to have hurt my right elbow. Everytime I use any weights it hurts my right elbow. I rested my elbow for a week but when I do any light weights in makes it sore again. It dosent feel broken or sprained and I can move it freely but it seems a little sore and stiff. Any advice?

    Anybody?

Hey Jimmy, when your curling what are you using?? You could be over extending at the end of the excercise, there are a couple of reasons for this. Where on the elbow is hurting you? INSIDE OR THE OUTSIDE OF THE ELBOW??

The inside, when I rub my hand over the area it nearly feels like a bruise. When I straightened my arm it gets sore but I can still move it freely.

I use one of those curing bars used for the bieceps not free weights a specific machine.

I'm the same except its my left arm and not on initial extension of any weight (e.g dumbell tricep behind the head) but rather about half way on the down movement.

Its definitely internal for me and is not sore at any other time (to touch or move) only doing this or halfway down on a shoulder press machine...its more of an annoyance than anything but feels like it could lead to damage so ive not done anything on it in a while...just wondering if anyone had the same and if it will sort itself out after good rest (few weeks) - seems fine with lighter weights but means I cant make any progress on it...

Not looking for any medical advise as if it felt like an actual problem I would go about it but at this stage its more a slight annoying hindrance

Yeah it hurts when I do triceps on the rope pulldown as well an ive stopped using the arm curl machine and started using the pull up machine instead. Still hurts but just a annoying niggle at the moment.

I had something similar from using a tricept curl type thing in the gym ( not free weights but one of the machines you sit at and then move you arms over an edge blah blah ).
My cousin ( a personal trainer ) said it was tendinitis, and was getting it from constantly moving my arm in an unnatural way.
i substituted it for a different, more natural arm movement exercise and now me arm/elbow is fine

I have elbow probs myself caused by my bar position when squatting.

Mine doesn't feel bruised to the touch but is a kind of a chronic ache when it comes. Sort of like a mild toothache in my elbow.

I'm trying to strengthen my biceps and forearms to try and stabilise it. It's improving slightly as time goes by.

Nurofen and ice help too. I bought Epsom salts this week also, I hear good things. They are meant to be effective against inflammation which is more than likely the cause.

    Need a bit more info.

Can you tell me about the pain? Type? (dull and boring, sharp, etc)
    Did you hurt the area.
    Is there any inflammation?
Can you attain normal range of movement, without weights.
    What aggravates it.
    What reliefs it.

When did it happen (first instance)

Is the pain radiating anywhere, ( is going into your hand, shooting up your arm? )

If you had to rate the a pain on a scale of 0 to 6...6 being excruciating where would it be At rest and during exercise.

Any current medical conditions that would be relevant.

Sorry for all the questions, that's basically a physical therapy history take (shortened) , answers should identify if the problem muscular or joint/skeletal related.!
Sounds like an RSI..or you may have inflamed the bursa contained in the Olecranon fossa (just above the elbow joint) .

But if you answer those i might be able to help you more.
