    Hey guys,

Im wondering if there is a way to access an external hard drive connected to the popcorn hour via USB? Im looking to backup the internal HD.

A bit of googling has me quite confused. I would think that this shouldnt be a problem. Some of the stuff Ive looked at involves telnet and the command line, two things im not comfortable using.

    I'd appreciate any help/direction.

Yes, but the PCH will need to be on a network, you can then use SAMBA (Windows file sharing) to access it's internal drive and an external USB drive. Using telnet is quicker, but you need to hack the PCH to install it.

You could also try the File mode of the device with the remote control to copy files from internal to external drives, but that might be very fiddly.

Oh and the external USB drive will have to be formatted as EXT2/3 for the PCH to write to it.

I'd back it up over your home network if I were you - slow but simple.

Right, looks like I'll have to partition the external drive. Will give Samba a go. Cheers.
