Grad Mass before the LC - Ideas!

My year is gonna be graduating in a few weeks time and our school always has a grad mass to celebrate it.

Just looking for ideas for a theme for the mass. It can be a quote from a song, poem or a saying. It just can't be too long. The theme used for last years grad mass was the U2 song 'Beautiful Day'. I think they used the line 'Its a beautiful day don't let it waste away'

At the end of the mass, we have a graduation song. So any recommendations would be really helpful for that. Something along the lines of 'Time of our lives' by Greenday.....except better....way better!

So far what I've come up with for the theme is: 'The journey is the reward'. Like no one ever remembers the classes, its the great times we've had along the way that counts. Thoughts?

Has anyone here been to one recently(or maybe a long time ago for some of ye:p), maybe ye have some ideas that could help.

    Any suggestions would be welcome!

    Love gun by KISS.

Nothing says graduation like singing about Gene Simmins' penis.

Haha Sinead, it would probably suit better but I don't think we'd be allowed that for some reason!

    Goodbye
    Listen little child
    There will come a day
When we will be able, able to say
Never mind the pain, or the aggravation
We know theres a better way
    For us all to be
Look for the rainbow in every storm
Fly like an angel heaven sent to me
    Goodbye my friends,
(I know youre gone, you said your gone but I can still feel you here)
    Its not the end
(You gotta keep it strong before the pain turns into fears)
So glad we made it, time will never change it
    No no
    No no no
    No longer little girls
    Big imaginations
Never let noone take it away
    We'll go into the world
    (Into the world)
    What a revelation
We'll find theres a better way for all of us to be
Look for the rainbow in every storm
    Find out for certain
Love is going to be there for us
    We'll always be friends forever
    Goodbye my friend
(I know youre gone, you said your gone but I can still feel you here)
    Its not the end
(You gotta keep it strong before the pain turns into fears)
So glad we made it, time will never change it
no no no No no no no
You know its time to say goodbye

Now I dont know who sings it, but that was the song that finished the mass for us

Wht about Heyday by Mic Christopher? I think the words of the chorus are pretty apt.

We're using Light and Day by The Polyphonic Spree: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mUHgKBw994A

Don't worry about it OP. Some arsehole will play Time of Your Life by Green Day and that will it.

We're organising ours too. What is the obsession with Time of Your Life?

Anyway, 4,000 dire suggestions later ("Wherever You Will Go!" "Hear You Me!" "Broken Strings!") we've settled on... wait for it...

Oh yes. Better than The Wanky River anyway.

It's the End of the World as We Know It (And I Feel Fine)?

    Neil Young-Long May You Run?

I bloody hate Time Of Your Life/Good Riddance. And of course, all the saps in my year voted for it to be the final song at our mass.

Anyone remember that 'Graduation Song'? "As we gone, we remember....." blah blah. I imagine that features at many's the graduation mass too

Edit: ah yes I see it's already been mentioned above

Growin Up - Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band or maybe Born to Run. "Bat out of Hell" either Just one song can't do it justice, pick more.

Freebird by Lynyrd Skynyrd would be appropriate. Freebird by Lynyrd Skynyrd is always appropriate.
