    You're not comparing like with like, both cars are in a different class, clearly the golf being larger than the polo.

    Are you a learner driver? Would engine size/tax/insurance/running costs be of major concern to you... (Ie. are you just starting to drive?)

    If you don't tick any of the above boxes, I can't see any reason not to go for the Golf. Much more comfortable, more power... More everything.

    There is no right or wrong answer to this question, mechanically or otherwise as one car is in a different class to the other.

    The only way to know if either are good is by comparing them to the competition, not each other. In other words comparing one VW against another is pointless.
