Oh hellew, well this thread may be in the wrong area, if so sorry :/

Anyway, I am 25 and I am living in Dublin for several months now and would like to make new friends and meet new people. Since most of my friends still live back in Laois, I was thinking maybe I should make some friends up here. Can anyone recommend any activities or events you could go to to meet (normal) people? I know alot of people up here but they are mostly linked to either family or work, you know how it is.

I guess maybe if I listed some of my interests it might help: I like football, swimming, music (mostly rock) videogames, books, movies, photography. I'm just a (semi) normal bloke basically. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

There are opportunities to meet people via boards.
There is a bookclub, footie team, very entertaining drama group and a number of forums beers.

If you're a rock fan maybe try Bruxelles off grafton street, I've gone there with mates and we've nearly ended up with new people joining us for a pint or 2 as they are there by theirselves, and we're the ones singing away laughing!

Just a thought, obviously, join some clubs or go to a boards beer etc! Do you play an instrument? You could take up guitar meet some like minded people!

I've been in Bruxelle's before, it's quite a good pub actually very different from the usual ones around town. I just wouldn't want to intrude on people I didn't know. I don't play any instruments unfortunately but I think it might be a good idea to try one of these board beers and see how it goes, thanks Ross!

Ahh a fellow Laois-an (Is that what we're called, like lesions?) anyway, it can be tough, but if you have a job you could arrange a game of football sometime, ya never know, your colleagues could be sound!

I think lessions are something that grow on you and are bad. So yeah, might be an accurate description. Well, as weary as I am for talking advance with someone who has exactly 666 posts (somewhere in the background music from the Omen plays..) I shall try it out, thanks man.
