Banned from USA - What to do?

    Hi,
A friend of mine was on holidays in the USA a few years ago and overstayed his visa. When he tried to go back again, he was told that he was banned from the USA for 5 years for overstaying his visa. He's now 2 1/2 years through the ban and would like to go back for a friend's wedding at the end of the year. He has relations and friends in the USA.
Is there anything he can do to get to the wedding?
Any advise and help would be welcome.
    Thanks,
    B.

he's banned - dont book any flights.

He could try to goto the US embassy and ask for ban to be reduced but its unlikely... seems like your only option.

ps. just send a very nice pressie and your regrets to the bride and groom.

He'll ahve to apply for a visa even when he's ban is up, maybe a plea to the US embassy?

There is little that can be done. It is unlikely that the decision will be reversed or any temporary permission will be given to allow him enter before 5 years are up. He could try contacting the embassy in Dublin, but there is little hope.

A few years ago one of the lads with us got stopped in Shannon. He too had overstayed his visa previously.

However he got a flight the next day as he contacted the Minister of Transport at the time. Got it sorted for him

You can try going to the Embassy but chances are your friend will have no luck. But worth a shot perhaps...
