Not sure if this is the right area but anyway.

My father wants to put me on this insurance but i have no license at the mo, Is it illegal to tell them i have a license issued say yesterday just for the sake of getting a quote? Obviously when i go to get insured i will give them the correct date of issue of the licence,

the reason i ask is i hear they wont give a quote of you dont have a licence.

    Cheers

Why get insurance if you don't have a licence?

No you'd be ok telling a white lie for getting the quote. Obviously if you decide to purchase the insurance you will of course need a license and inform them of that

No, it's not illegal, or if it is I've never known of anyone to get in trouble for it, done it hundreds of times myself, checking affordability of different cars and bikes on the online quote gens.

You would be fine once you reapply for a quotation after you get your license.

The insurance company will ask about the licence type.
The OP will have to state that they have no licence and the insurance agent will probably repeat my earlier question.

Think the OP wants a quote not insurance.

He wants to know how much it would cost to do so, getting the quote for information purposes only I'd guess, been there myself, got a quote to put the GF on my insurance last year, she didn't have a license at the time - I just wanted to know how much it would cost.

Quote only - no its fine....

purchasing insurence - its illegal and will invalidate the full policy....i.e your dad will not be legally insured either as the policy will not be valid
