There's actually someone going around? I'm very surprised that every apartment needs their own licence. Once for the entire block should be enough...

One license is needed per TV set.

A search warrant is needed by the license inspector for them to enter your apartment. If they come to the door, ask for it and answer no other questions, sorted =)

the law is along the lines of, any aparatus capable of receiving broadcast signals etc. needs a licence.....watch yer laptops and PC's in a few years I tells ya!

Also, it's stated clearly in your licence agreement that the onus is on the occupier to obtain a tv licence, and that campus res accept no responsobility for any consequences of not doing such

Is it not one license per house/apartment?

I thought that was the case.

Not as far as I'm aware, could be wrong on that though

My house has a few tvs, one licence.
    One licence per househould?
Apartments I'm assuming, count as such

It's one per address... as per here. You can buy it online here.

Unless there is a built in TV adaptor you PC/laptop cannot receive a "broadcast signal." Streaming media is not a "signal".

None of you will be living there in a months time either.

    What a load of bull****.

This happened a few years back when i was in hampstead. The inspector never came around to our apartment, and if he did it was during the day when we were all at class. But Diarmmaid is correct in saying they can't come in.

It happened to us over the summer, we got caught without a licence. The reason for this is that the licence was under a previous tenants name. We were told to pay it, but as we were at the end of our lease we got our landlord to pay it and we paid for the remaining month. However, i doubt campus res would do that....

They came around to shanowen this time last year, guy never even asked me if I had a TV, got a summons a month or so back, rang the office and they said the inspector said I had one, and now I have to go to court on friday, load of bollox, don't even live in the apartment anymore

The inspector said you had a licence, yet you still got a summons? I'd ignore it, particularly if you don't live there, and if they don't have your main home address.

No he said I had a TV, even though I didn't, I contacted them explaining the situation but they said I'd still have to go to court, if I didn't contact them I could just ignore it and say I never got it, but oh wel, I have lectures on Friday so I might still ignore it because I told them this and asked could I appeal the date but they just ignored it, have someone looking into it anyway.
