    Hi,

We're looking to get married this Nov/Dec and are looking for venue where we can have our own free bar and arrange catering ourselves - probably looking at around 100 guests max for sit down meal and then party etc after.

Have looked at Fallon & Byrne but unfortunately we have a lot of friends who smoke and they would have to go downstairs to the street to smoke which we think would break up the party too much.:(

Have also heard of Blackhall Place - does anyone have any experience of this?

Any suggestions would be really appreciated :)

    Cheers

    A

Dont know how true this is but was speaking to the guy in charge of Tailor's hall today, which used to do private functions with no-cash bar. He tells me that due to changes in licencing laws that it is not possible for anywhere to operate without a licence so hence they are running the bar themselves and for cash. Though I am sure you can pick up the bill for this. The location is excellent if you are having a summer wedding as you have a courtyard off the smaller hall (seats 60) where the smokers will be happy. You can I am told put a marquee in this. The larger hall seats 85 if I remember correctly. Whole place costs 2500 or 1200 for smaller area and courtyard. On the downside their licence is currently only for wine, and by next march will be for wine and beer. Change in licencing laws really limiting what you can now do in these kinds of places. Having said that he did say there was nothing to stop someone bringing a hip flask of the hard stuff...... I know this really does not answer your question but you will probably find a similar scenario elsewhere and if your mam doesn't want to carry her G+T around in her handbag it could be a problem.

Try the Beaufield Mews in Stillorgan. I was at a wedding reception there once and it was lovely - there's also a very nice garden there for taking photos

Number 6 on Kildare Street is gorgeous. I think you can have ceremony in the Library and it's pretty central so you won't have to pay for buses and all that! I'm not sure what the music situation is though - it could be a listed building so no amplified music.
