1TB External harddrive without adapter

    Is it possible to get an external hdd in this size without an electrical adapter ?

    No, the USB powered drives are 2.5" (ie laptop drives), and 500GB is currently the largest 2.5" consumer drive available.

    You will see 640/750GB later this year, and eventually 1TB (probably next year), but for now, 500GB is as big as you'll get.

    Personally I'm not sure if I'd like to store all my chickens in the one eggbox there..

    Also the inital bang for buck on a 1TB drive is going to be crazy

    500GB drives are currently in the 110 price range
    (after a quick check on komplett http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.aspx?sku=389021 I'd assume when the 1TB 2.5inch drive would come out you'll be initially looking at quite a pricey drive.

    2 500GBs do you in the mean time ? :D
