Workshops at West Cork Literary Festival - July '09

    Hope this may of interest to some.

    Booking has opened for a wide range of Workshops that will be held this July as part of the West Cork Literary Festival in Bantry. Early booking is essential as each workshop will be limited to a maximum of 15 participants on a first come, first served, basis.

    “Writing for the Screen” will be presented by television producer/director Ferdia Mac Anna while novelist Martina Devlin will present “The Novel for Beginners”. Author Denyse Woods presents “Creating A Sense of Place” while Ré Ó Laighléis’ workshop is on the theme of “The Short Story for Beginners”.

    Playwright Billy Roche will give a workshop on “Writing for the Stage” and writer/television presenter Manchán Magan presents “The Gospel of Vagabondage – A Workshop on Travel Writing”. “Poetry” is the subject of James Harpur’s workshop while John W Sexton will advise on “Writing For Children”.

    Author and publisher John McKenna will give a workshop on “Food Writing”; Rory Kilalea will showcase “Writing for Radio” and Jack Lukeman, more usually known as Jack L will give a three-day workshop on “Song Writing”.

    The cost of the workshops is €175 for five days and €125 for the three days song writing workshop. All workshops run concurrently at Ardscoil Phobal, Chapel Street, Bantry Monday 6th to Friday 10th July.

    Annie Proulx, Roger McGough, Francesca Simon and Graham Rawle are just four of the participants appearing at this year’s Festival which features writers, poets and illustrators from Ireland and abroad.
