Bandos, Maldives?

Thinking of a suprise holiday for the bird and i saw that Markstravel.co.uk site and had a look. Found what seems to be a very nicely priced trip for two to the Maldives island of Bandos for very little money.

    http://www.markstravel.co.uk/offerdetails.asp?oid=1572

So, if we take the premium econemy seats for 149 each, and the Jacuszi beach ville at 280 each, we're looking at 862 sterling for the two of us right?

I know that doesn't include our flights to gatwick, but it seems alittle too good to be true for the Maldives. Am i missing something?

Also, from what i read searching around on this forum, everyone says the Maldives is a pain to travel to, but that site says its a non stop flight and a 20 minute boat journey.

I'm not a mad traveler, so any help would be great.

Havent been to Bandos but was on different islands there last year.
Flights are a mare but worthwhile. You have two options, either a direct
charter flight from UK (Monarch/Thomas Cook) to Male then a transfer by
boat or seaplane to your resort or if you go the non-charter route
you're looking at Dublin to London, London to Doha, Doha to Male and
then Male to your island resort.

I did the non-charter route last year and was travelling for over 24 hours
each way. I don't think I could do charter flights for a flight that long.
The charter flights tend to be cheaper. If available a seaplane transfer is worth
the extra cash as the view from the seaplane over the islands is to die for.

Cool, thanks for the reply. The flights in that package deal are direct non stop, i think.. that'd be the only way i could fly. I couldn't do 24 hrs!

How long is a direct flight from the UK do you know?

Hi, a colleague of mine from work went there twice, as we speak he is there for the second time. They stayed 10 days first time and now for two whole weeks. I have seen the pictures from the first one, they were ....a dream.
I understood that if you are lucky and have good weather everything will be perfect. It's a dream holiday and you can see rare species of fishes in the water.
The guy loves that place and he plans to go there every year.

    cheers,
    D

As mentioned, I haven't done the direct flight but from what I've heard
it's 11-12 hours from UK to Male with Monarch.

The prices are very cheap because it's just the start of the rainy season in the Maldives which is April - October (or is it May - October?) so you could get a bit of rain while there. However these rain showers tend to just last a few mins or so, from what I've heard anyway - best to research this before you go.

Also, as with all travel agents - be careful with who you are booking with, make sure they are regulated and all that - you hear these days of travel agents going bust with holidaymakers left with no holiday and no deposits so just double-check before you book!

Hey, if you are interested in pictures from there, I just 360 photos from that place. If you want to be a surprise and not see anything till you get there, I can send you only one to make yourself an idea :)
Let me know if you're interested.
