Hi all, I was wondering if someone could recommend a treatment to get rid of warts? i have tried everything, burning, freezing etc and all it seems to do is make them spread :( and leave them very painful. I have about 30 of them across my hands now and they r so embarrassing:(. there seems to be alot of treatments advertised online but do any of them really work? would anyone have any recommendations?:(

Go to a doctor and stop messing around with fire and your body

As you can see, the vast majority of treatments are by prescription and nowhere does it mention freezing or burning them.

Warts are caused by a virus and so require anti-viral treatments to eradicate them. As much as you'd like to believe, you can't treat them yourself. Go to your doctor. You've clearly let this go on far too long, and all you're doing is giving them a chance to spread elsewhere on your body and to people you come into contact with. You're also putting yourself at an elevated risk of skin cancer.

When I had warts the only way I got rid of them was by the doctor freezing them off with some carbon dioxide gas liquid nitrogen (must have been, like waraf). However, some just disappeared through time. Go back to your doctor.

My doc used liquid nitrogen. Very effective stuff.

If you want the old remedy they say to wee on your hands and pray to some saint or other...

I'd say if the regualr treatments aren't working, then you need to go back to your doctor - maybe even get a second opinion. If your GP can't sort them out, I'm sure he'll refer you to a specialist dermatologist or something. Medical treatment is the only way to go!

    Weird but true story.

My sister had the worst warts/verrucas ever and they were plaguing her for over 2 years. It was like a second skin on her feet, like bark on a tree. Disgusting. Naturally she tried everything, freezing, oils creams etc

    and nothing worked.

She went to some healer person in Kildare, who rubbed holy water and some leaves on her feet. 2 WEEKS later all gone. Feet normal. I couldnt believe it, but the proof was in front of my eyes.

Now supposedly this woman was a 7th daughter of a 7th daughter and had a few healing powers. I wouldnt normally go for this kind of stuff, much like palm reading and tealeaves, but when you see it with your own eyes, it changes things.

Yeah I've heard a lot of traditional cures for warts. My gran swore by rubbing your hands in a big lump of bacon fat and burying it. I had them when I was younger for years but to my delight they all disappeared within days when I was 17 or so and have never had one since. Not sure if the stars were aligned or my immune system just got off its arse. The standard over the counter treatments are pretty effective I have to say but ya have to be very patient and persistent to destroy a wart.

Liquid nitrogen is the only effective cure I know of.

Please consult a doctor and try to stay away from quack cures. Closed.
