As a female i must say i am unimpressed by the new breed of young skinny guys that are models with top Dublin agencies. Myself and my girlfriends had a quick look at these models and although they are catwalk material so to speak, we are thinking not very hunky.... we had a quick look at the agencies morgans, bescene and comptons and no hunks in sight!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

are male models now taking the no eating route?????????

Catwalk models are always skinny though right, the "hunky" models are usually used for underwear campaigns etc. And tbh Irish "models" are a joke so its not like its of any great importance, they're much more suited to holding icepops on grafton street than any walking down catwalks

When were catwalk models ever "hunky"?

Also "Top Dublin agencies" is an oxymoron

I've never seen a decent Irish male model so I don't really know what they look like. You just wouldn't see them in the pages of GQ. I did a bit years ago but was told by an agency I was "too tall". I guess as I'm 6'5" they had a point but still, you'd think height would be a bonus. Maybe they were trying to tell me something...

Still, it took me one photo session for me to realise it was the most boring job on earth. However I'd do it now for the extra money!

It's what's in fashion. Same with women. Look back to the era of the "Supermodel", they were all conventionally beautiful, luscious hair, beach bodies. Now they're favouring child like, skinny types - Agyness Deyn, Lily Cole, Gemma Ward etc.

Havent fancied a female 'model' for quite some time now. Waaaaaay too skiny. No chest, no bum and the sight of a ribcage protruding out isnt sexy.
Megan Fox/Jessica Alba types are definitely sexier

Exactly. The shambolic 'spoilt kids go at it on RTE' show at the minute is only really hilarious when you think of the fact they're Irish, and all that awaits them is a Rock The Vote/ Turn Off Your Lights Before Bed photoshoot on Kildare Street.

I'm sure the lads are just as mundane as the ladies.

To the original poster - google the names : Cole Mohr,Tyler Riggs,Gerhard Friedl,Ash Stymest - these are an example of the new male modelling standard.I still dont think what Irelands agencies have models that meet this standard.

Anyway,Irish agencies are a joke.I think everyone knows a girl with an agency here. They have FAR too many girls in an almost non existant industry. They dont even try to get their girls internationally signed(so they can act as a mother agent).90% of them dont meet the standards of the international model agency, but for the select few who do,they should jump the sinking ship and seek representation abroad.

'The Model Agent' pleasantly suprised me.I can tell its strictly about modelling and not about bitching.I can see at least 1 of these girls having a successful career.A Finland model show had a finalist who went on to become a Prada exclusive as well as bank a plethora of campaigns(including Calvin Klein)-So theres still hope for the 'reality tv' model.

I was also surprised by the Model Agent, the blonde scout woman I find a bit annoying (the typical "dahling" type person) but I could see some of those girls doing well and perhaps going international. That girl, Amber, is stunning, she looks like Keira Knightley. And there's a few others, they have that waif like look that you don't really expect to see. When they are being interviewed they look normal enough, but its all about the make up and cameras (not to mention the retouching).

As for men, I had a look at those names and its very much the androgynous look, the pretty boy look mixed with a bit of 80s. I guess they are appealing to a younger generation; the Marcus Schenkenburg look isn't really in anymore, which is a pity as I look exactly like him. (not really).
