Just saw this on another forum. Some guy was asking ESP where the Edwards are made and they replied and told him that the guitars are made in ESP's own factory in northern China and then sent to their Tokyo factory for setup.

Here's the original text from ESP's response...
    EDWARDSは、木工~塗装までを弊社中国工場(下請けではありません)にて行い、組み込み~セットアップを新東京工場にて行っております。

If you can't read japanese here's a bad translation by Babelfish.
EDWARDS, at our company Chinese factory (is not subcontract,) does to carpenter ~ paint, installation ~ setup at the new Tokyo factory we have gone.

This was news to me as I thought they were made completely in Japan. Apparently not. Still very nice guitars though.

    Link where I spotted this.

You would be suprised what is made in China these days.
Ultimate insult is the Ibanez J Custom bridges made in China.........

Marshall assembled in the UK.....parts probably made in China etc.

I can't imagine that the whole guitar is made is China and then setup in Japan.

China is the new Korea, a lot of supposedly high end stuff is made there now. You have to admit, communism makes for some cheap labour so it's not all necessarily bad. I'm sure a Chinese fella can push the start button on a CNC machine just as well as a Japanese or American fella.
