Hi all, I know very little about bikes and could do with a bit of advice. I've been offered a Giant FCR1 from a friend for a good price but ideally I wanted a bike with drop bars. Is there anything stopping me putting drop bars on an FCR1 or is the frame designed for straight bars? Also, are frames generally compatable…

Hi all,
I know very little about bikes and could do with a bit of advice. I've been offered a Giant FCR1 from a friend for a good price but ideally I wanted a bike with drop bars. Is there anything stopping me putting drop bars on an FCR1 or is the frame designed for straight bars? Also, are frames generally compatable with most parts if I decide to upgrade, or is the FCR1 specific to certain parts?

You could do it and people on here have, but it would cost a fair chunk of money. You'd be better off just buying a bike with drops straight off.

The integrated brake and gear shifters are expensive and you'd have to replace those with the new handlebars
