Gf bought a Micra import last week, 2000, K11, comes with a japanese manual. There's a green light on the dash that we dont know it's purpose.

    O/D
    OFF

    is what's in green.

    Any ideas?

Thats telling that the overdrive is turned off. This is only applicable to an automatic transmission so dunno why its showing up on your car.
Prob just a sensor. your car doesnt have Overdraft so wouldnt be too worried

EDIT: sorry, thought you meant it came with manual (gearbox), not manual (book).
If its auto gearboc, theres a 2nd button on the gearstick under the big one. Press this and the light will go off. O/D lets the revs drop at higher speed for cruising
