    Hey Folks,

    As the title says I'm the second owner of my car (05 Focus) but the first NCT is due sometime this year. when = I don't know as I don't know the date it was registered first in Ireland.
    I tried using the NCT website and looking for a NCT but you need the number plate and either;
    a) the booking number they "send" you (I've been told by friends they no longer send out a letter advising you that the NCT is due)
    b) The date the car was initially registered.
    As I only know the number plate and neither a or b I can't use this.
    I've tried ringing and emailing but I never get any answer or acknowledgement so thats no good either.

    My question is; has anyone been in this situation already and what did you do?

    The date of first registration in Ireland is on your Vehicle Registration Certificate

    As above its on the Vehicle Registration Certificate or Logbook as it is better known as which you should have got when you became the new owner of the vehicle.

    Thanks to everyone for the replies. The logbook is at home in Limerick and I'll see it at the weekend. I had assumed that the date on there was the date I purchased it as I got a new logbook with the car (change of ownership) I'm feeling embarassed now that ye've all said it to me, it seems so simple.

    Thanks

    Shane
