I may have to get new springs for the mustang, but I'd say that shipping them over from the US will be costly, is there anywhere in Ireland I could get them?

That seems to just be a forum and I couldn't find a reference in there to leaf springs, am I missing something?

I suppose my thought were is that many types of leaf spring are the same (like oil filters) and maybe one from one car might fit mine, or not as the case may be.

Maybe you can get your current leaf springs heat treated / re-tempered?

Yes it is a forum, a forum for Muscle Car enthusiasts. A forum where those that are in to Muscle Cars, or American Cars in general, ask questions and share their experiences with other users. Think of it like a 'boards' for Muscle Cars. Probably the best place to ask as many of the lads here have imported, rebuilt, restored Muscle Cars from the ground up. Comprende? ;)

Ford had a habit of using the same parts in different cars. Didn't the Granada come with Escort suspension at some stage?
Maybe the ones you are looking for could be found in the back of a Transit;)
What about just adding an extra helper leaf?

There was a company in Portlaoise who made leaf springs to order. Not sure if they are still around but I know that the made two springs for the back of a pre 1910 car for a friend of mine about 7 or 8 years ago..

    Portlaoise Springs
    Clonminam Ind Est
    Portlaoise
    Co Laois

They are still listed in the Golden Pages anyway..

Some afaik ( i'm not sure if they all have it) have an extra leaf on one side to help counteract lift , have a look before you go ripping it out anyway
