I'm moving house, and i'm thinking of keeping my sky subscription.
However i won't have a tv in the near future, but have a laptop.
    Would this work? http://www.terratec.net/en/products/Cinergy_CI_USB_2296.html

And what does "Last, plug your pay TV smart card into the corresponding CAM (neither included in the scope of delivery) and insert it into the slot of the Cinergy CI USB. You're done!"

I've never heard of a Sky compatible cam. I'd source that first if I were you.

I read something about Dragon Cam, But when i tried to access one of those websites the office-proxy screamed out "Computer Crime" so i guess i won't even ask about that one here. :D

Here is a nifty guide on how to do it. They also sell all the required components.

    http://www.kustompcs.co.uk/acatalog/skymceintegration.html

I did it and it works although it's not easy or convenient and it's expensive. It crashes from time to time and Media Centre looses it's channel listings which are a pain to set up. But it is the only way to record Sky & Sky HD to a pc without any quality loss. If you want to record to pc and burn to disks it is the only way to go but I wouldn't recommend it for the average user.

Proper guide indeed. But as you say, a bit overdoing the idea of plugging in the viewing card in the pcmcia-slot on the laptop. :P

Probably more hassle than it's worth for a short term solution. Might be better off just borrowing, or picking up a cheap tv to keep you going.

    You'd need someting like this

    http://www.terratec.net/en/products/technical-data/produkte_technische_daten_en_85773.html?premium=1

    and also a CAM module

    http://www.kustompcs.co.uk/acatalog/info_4349.html

The first box connects to your laptop via usb 2 and also to the sky connection coming into your house. You then plug your sky card into the CAM which also connects into the first box. This should get rid of the need for a sky box.

Alternatively you can get a usb tv tuner http://www.terratec.net/en/products/Cinergy_DT_USB_XS_Diversity_1608.html and connect the output of the sky box to this. You'll still use the sky STB and sky remote to control channels etc.

It's also worth mentioning that Sky are rolling out new viewing cards to all their customers over the next month or two.

It may be a case that the new cards will not work in a Dragon, etc.
