An absolutely vital match for us if we're to stand any chance of dragging ourselves out of this relegation battle we've gotten ourselves into.

52,000 black and white cards, 1,000 scarves and 20,000 flags are to be handed out to ensure that the Toon is given a mighty reception.

I just hope that we get going from the kick off and not leave anything too late like we seem to have been doing as of late. Nothing more than a win will do.

It's the first of our last three home games so let's give it everything we've got.

    TOON TOON!!!!!

This is where things really are do or die.

Anything less than 3 pts, and we are more or less down.

We have to play 4-3-3 imo.

    None of this 3-5-2 crap.

I reckon Toon will pick up 3 points here, and will end up saving themselves at Hull's expense.

2 nil to Pompey. They are poor but Newcastle are chronic.

In fairness, the 3-5-2 was more or less born out of the fact that we have no other left back, and that our squad is so barren, we can't evn put square pegs in round holes.

    I'd like to see

    Harper

    Geremi--Bassong--Beye--Enrique

    Jonas--Butt--Guthrie

    Martins--Owen--Viduka----

I'd like to see Butt drop deep, and just sit in fron of the defence, as his legs are gone. Owen to play in the whole also, ala the role KK found for him last season.

I think it's too early for Barton to be rushed back into first team football. He could really aggrovate his injury even further if Shearer calls him up. I'd like to see Guthrie play some part of this.

Guthrie starting should be a no brainer. Barton can make such a massive difference for us. One of our few players who can actually pass, and will give it his all for the 90 mins. I'd like to see him play some part tomorrow.

Even if it is for 20 minutes or so. It'd be great to see him back. Granted he's had a bad few months off the pitch but he's got a good presence on it and we need someone who can take command in the centre of midfield. He wants to play for this club and make a (good) name for himself and it's great to see.

At the moment I'm confident of a win. The nerves will hit me around 5pm tomorrow.

On paper we should win but this piece of paper has been crumpled up so many times this season and there's no consistency there. Here's hoping the paper gets smoothed out tomorrow.

I don't know why I'm confident of a win, we've won less games than any other team in the Premiership this season, even West Brom!

Always a good time to turn the stats in our favour.

Tough match ahead guys. I don't think a draw is enough for Newcastle. I think if you go 4 3 3 a midfield of Jonas, Butt and Guthrie is very lightweight.

All the same, beset o luck.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,473 ✭✭✭✭Blazer

    Screw 4-3-3.
What good is it having 3 strikers if your midfielders are not creating for them.
    Go 4-4-2.

    Harper

    Taylor--Bassong--Beye--Enrique

    Geremi--Jonas--Butt(Barton if fit)--Guthrie

    ---Martins--Owen--

No just Setanta unfortunately mate. The Veetle link I just posted is the best quality you'll most likely get on the net. It's not let me down this season so far.

Martins Owen and Viduka up front,

with Smith and Duff in Midfield its a very attacking formation,

Im torn tonight, gf is a Sunderland season ticket holder, Im a Blackburn fan so have a love for Shearer,

Id rather see Newcastle stay up with Hull going down,

So im cheering on the Magpies tonight,

Good Luck lads, it really is now or never

A 3 man midfield of Duff Butt and Smith doesn't look too great tbh

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

Why the fcuk is Jonas on the bench???

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,148 ✭✭✭✭Raskolnikov

That formation really is going all out! Just put €50 on Newcastle to win this. Surely there can only be goals with Owen, Martins and Viduka playing.

come on the toon do or die now imo

Our midfield is our weak point. Why Jonas is on the fcuking bench is beyond me.

Viduka is due a one of his decent games, that 50 quid is safe enough me thinks.

We'll need to watch Belhadj very closely. He'll be our main threat I reckon.

    Come on the toon.

lol @ the fat bloke singing.

If Toon can't get motivated for this one, you Newcastle supporters might as well give up.

Nicky Butt really is useless, I can't believe he's the Newcastle lynchpin tonight.

Poor old Booby up in the stands.

I still don't understand how Newcastle are so bad when you look at the players they have out there.
