Ryanair Dublin Airport Online check-in & Bag drop question

I've been booked a flight from Dublin to Girona for early next week, with online check-in and baggage paid for. Now I realise I look like a complete gonk, but I've no idea what the procedure is for Ryanair's new(ish) Online check-in & bag drop.

I get that I have to look for the baggage drop desk (I have no Idea where it is, I haven't been in Dublin airport for over a year) but what do I do after I've found it & dumped the bag?

Do I queue as normal at the check in desk or is there another procedure? Do I have to bring any specific printout with me ?

Ryanair haven't been any help on the phones to be honest, so if anyone here has done it, I'd very much appreciate a heads up. Thanks.

Check in online and print your own boarding card.

Bring you bag and your boarding card to the Ryanair desk which above it is written, Bag Drop, instead of where it would normally say the destination.

There will be a Geneva check in desk(s) but ignore these. Head to the bag drop which will be the bag drop for ANY flight leaving that day.

They will print the appropriate bag track sticker for your bags and they will disappear off into the bowels of the airport and onwards to your flight.

Job done, head off towards your flight with your own boarding card which will also give you priority boarding.

There will be two queues at the boarding gate. Join the priority check in lane and because of open seating you will get on more or less first and get first choice on seating.

Excellent stuff. You'd wonder why Ryanair & the Airport staff couldn't make it that clear for me.

    Thanks!

You dont automatically get 'priority boarding' when you check in online, you have to pay extra for it otherwise its printed 'No priority' That and to be honest its not worth anything anyway, as priority boarders just get onto the bus first . . .not the plane

It used to be free, a kind of benefit of not having bags or using the check in desks. How obtuse of me to think O'Leary would leave a perk go uncharged for?

Where exactly is this please? I'm flying to Malta next week and have never done this before. I've previously always gone to the check-in desk. Btw the rest of the thread is very useful info. :)

When you go into the aiport, look up at the big information signs. Find your flight and beside that, it will tell you what check-in area to go to for your flight. At that area, just look for the bag-drop desk. It'll be on a monitor above the desks.

Has not been free for more than a year now.

It really is as simple as you mention though

    1. Print off boarding card up to 4 hours before departure
    2. Take bag (15kgs) to "bag tag and drop" desks at airport with boarding card and passport
    3. Take boarding card through security.
    4. Go to gate and get on plane.

Remember that your checked bag should be no more than 15kg but your hand luggage can be up to 10kgs as long as it is within the dimensions stated on your boarding pass.

Usually in the Ryanair departures section - area 6,7 or 8. Its around there somewhere you will find it. In fact you cant miss the bag drop desks.

If you have no check-in luggage, can you just check-in online and rock straight through the security gates?

    Yes you can.

If you have hand luggage, be sure it meets the size and weight requirements though, or you could have to pay to have your bag put in the hold of the plane.

I am planning a trip to the uk with Ryanair.
I wish to check in a bag on the way back. Although Ryair quote 15euro per trip-I am not able to book bag on way back only! 30euro is the only option.
    can anyone help me

Netwtons>>>Book 2x one-way trips. If i remember correctly, when you book a return, it charges you for 2x€10.00 booking fees (depending on what card you use) anyway (you can confirm this is the case before you complete your booking, I may be wrong). If i am wrong it means you are only saving €5 which probably would not be worth the hassle.

Another thing, someone mentioned it here before reg baggage weight, Tip: I usually check this on one of the empty check-in positions before to save hassle in the queue (saves other frustrated Ryanair travellers time). Maybe many people check this at home but i always pack last minute.

May be a silly one this, but you never know with Ryanair. Booked my Mam and Dad on a flight and unintentionally put in 'MR' twice in the scrolldown men.

My latest boarding pass (from early April) makes no mention of the sex of the passenger, simple having the name and passport number on it.

Print them off and leave well enough alone?

Travelling to Spain with Ryanair on a 6am flight, (3 adults, 2 kids) thinking of taking an airport express bus which arrives @ 4:45 am - have we enough time to drop the bags and make the flight?

Assuming this is Dublin Airport? You would be ok as you would already have checked in. You should be able to make it to the gate @ no later than 5.30 i'd say. If you have baggage to check in it could be a little tight but you should still make it to be honest. Assuming only hand luggage: 5 min walk from bus to security queue, 5-20 mins in security, 10-15 min walk down to the gate.

My parents have a 6.15am flight in a couple of weeks. Staying in The Clarion Hotel Dublin Airport the night before.

Was thinking of telling them to get to the bag-drop desk at 5.00am. No more than 10-15 minutes in a queue and then it moves quickly enough.

I got a 6.30am flight a couple of weeks ago. Arrived at the airport at 4am. Went through security at about 4.30am and was at the gate at 4.45am.

That said, it can get very busy, very quickly in the mornings. I agree though: you should be fine for time.

Ryanair say they close 'bag drop' 40 minutes before the flight departs. For peace of mind and especially if I've bags I would be at airport at least one and a half hours before flight departs...or am I mad? I'm flying out from Dublin soon with three kids at 6.30am. I'm staying in a Hotel at the airport the night before and am just wondering what time to turn up at the airport....is 4.30am nuts?
Also, we will be away for 3 weeks so I have to find somewhere to print off the bloody boarding cards...bloody hassle.

Just as a precaution, have you checked if there is a shuttle bus from the hotel that time in the morning? 4.30 is a little bit early maybe but hey you have kids & bags to check in so better to have some spare time + Get early to the gate to be one of the first to board and you have a better selection of seats for the family (if you are flying budget airline). Print boarding cards in internet cafe in your town or at work, remember you need passport number when you check in online.

Thanks Swe_Fi...I am going to go to the airport at 4.30. For the sake of half an hour and peace of mind I think it will be worth it..
As for the online check-in, I have only been to an internet cafe once about four years ago and never imagined they'd have a printer. So I guess they all have printers now, even the ones in France. And yes, thanks for the reminder about having the passports when checking in online, I tried to do check-in at work for the outbound journey but forgot to bring everybodys passports....thats what happens when you have no printer at home.
