Chris de Burgh is popular again.

    from Sunday Times
HIS schmaltzy paean to a lady in red made him the artist we love to hate. But Chris de Burgh, the Irish balladeer, is back in the charts, if not in fashion. Footsteps, the Wicklow-based singer’s new album, entered the UK charts at No 4 last week, the songwriter’s highest position for almost 20 years.

The housewives’ favourite sold more than 16,000 copies of in the UK last week, making him the highest new entry in the top 40. His 17th studio album lies between the latest releases from Lily Allen and Doves, an indie band.

De Burgh’s new album — 14 cover versions and two new tracks — is released in Ireland this week. It includes versions of classics by the Beatles and Bob Dylan, and a cover of American Pie by Don McLean.

    Heaven knows I'm miserable now.

Yeah you're right, it would put anyone's girlfriend in a coma.
OK that joke isn't funny any more.
    Sorry.

You can at least be grateful that Thatcher is not making a comeback

I'd have Thatcher over Chris de Burgh anyday! (that sounds sickly wrong!) And it doesn't matter to me about Thatcher, I am not English.

Yeah well you picked the wrong dude to care about Thatcher! If Chris de Burgh makes a come back in the Irish charts somebody is going to be killed... Preferably Chris de Burgh! I passionately hate Chris de Burgh, at the same rate as I hate Daniel O'Donnell!

Well some of his early stuff wasn't too bad. Shame he didn't stop recording in the early 80s
