Broken remote on my Technomate TM3100

This is a nightmare. We bought a TM3100 a few months ago and the kids dropped the remote recently. It is very likely broken beyond repair. I got a Slivercrest Universal Remote from Aldi a while back but it doesn't work with it. No code listed in the book and of course I can't use the Learning option. I also tried the auto find and it still didn't work.

I am out of ideas. Anyone got any suggestions, or where can I buy a new remote?

I hate satellite technology! Mainly because I can't understand it well enough or don't know enough about it.

We have a dual lnb and besides the Technomate with the broken remote, we also have an old Sky Digibox in the other room for watching TV. This was to replace a broken Lidl receiver.

My wife told me last night that the Sky box now doesn't work either, so we have no telly at all. Doesn't bother me but I got the complaints when they couldn't watch Simon Cowell last night.

The one piece of tech we have for TV viewing that is bulletproof is an Xbox with XBMC on it. We stream to it from an Asus EEE with a large hard drive. Could I add a USB Satellite receiver to it and stream to the XBox maybe? That would give us one device under the telly and the ability to record also and all without subscribing to Sky which I am resisting in a big way.
