Offbeat honeymoon in August

Getting married in the second half of August and looking for somewhere for a two week break. Unfortunately, August is absolutely the worst month to go anywhere.

We were looking at Venezuela, as it seemed to have the right blend of activity and bit of scuba diving. Something like this http://www.lostworldadventures.com/countries/venezuela/vzintineraries/Best%20of%20Venezuela.htm would have been fantastic (though sans their 4k price tag). Unfortunately, Venezuela seems to suffer from the same August curse as the rest of the northern hemisphere.

We've both done Argentina, Brazil, Peru and Bolivia before, so they're out. Mexico, the second favourite, will also likely be full of loud annoying Yanks.

Anybody with 'holiday of a lifetime' ideas?

Best suggestion wins an invite to my wedding*

Kinda in the same boat is you getting married early september looking to do something quite special although we're probably very different budgets mine being 2-3k

Looked at alot of places some ideas are

Iceland lots of nice hotels sceney is great and fantastic trips up to mountains volcanos and also the hot spots.

Carribean (I was lookin at florida keys not quite the same but similar) very relaxing lots of snorkelling scuba diving boat trips nice beaches.

Thailand didnt really consider but some of the islands look amazing phi phi and others

Then the classic ones like seychelles and maldives

I eventually settled on malta maybe not the most exotic but flights and accomodation are fairly cheap i.e. under a grand for both for 2 weeks which leaves the rest of the budget for other stuff. Want to get a diving quailification day trips to scilily and other places and lots of others.

Friend of mine recently went to seychelles for a week chilled out and then went on to south africa did the whole safari thing and usual said it was fantastic both of them had a great time lots of brilliant photos.

Just bear in mind, the photos of Phi Phi are taken when it's not hounded with tourists (a lot of whom are 20 year olds downing belly shots - not honeymoon material). Thailand's islands reminded me of the canaries a bit.
    All other suggestions are great.

I went to Phuket for hols before, fabulous - would go again in a heartbeat!

For my honeymoon, we went to West Cork - not exotic but it was damn good!!!

What about the Whitsunday Islands off the Queensland Coast? Always thought they looked pretty amazing.

Have a look here.... suggested honeymoon sorted by price... might get some ideas http://www.audleytravel.com/Features/Honeymoons/Honeymoon-Planner/By-Budget/Under-2k-pp.aspx
