I'm Sorry

I'm really sorry guys. I did something yesterday that I am really ashamed of. I don't know how it happened, but it did and there is nothing I can do about it now. I'll understand if I get a weeks ban or am totally shunned on the next group spin for this. It's almost too much to actually type this here, but... yesterday... while changing to cycle home from work, having left my bike overnight, I came to the car-crash realisation that I did in fact... leave my white cycling socks at home and I was going to have to wear my very-very-very dark blue business socks.

At first there was denial, followed quickly by anger when I realised that this going to seriously affect the Euro rating scores that Caroline is keeping.

I even contemplated doing what those weird swim-cycle-run chaps do (whatcha call em? Oh yeah, weirdos) and go without socks. Then, like a NiceOneTom descent of Sally Gap, it came to me in a flash... I have overshoes in my bag! I can use these! I put them on as quick as I could, but... disaster, the socks still extended way beyond the top of the overshoes. Now obviously the simple solution is to push the socks down, but I wasn't thinking straight, I was in a blind panic. It took five minutes of running around in circles before I thought to try it. Success!

On the bike home I can't be sure if the business socks were exposed in anyway. I was not in a state to check and even if I did, I don't think I could contemplate the repercussions of such an incident.

Let this be a cautionary tale to all of you... always remember to bring your white cycling socks.

The irony in all of this is when we were talking about, types of riders, you mentioned cyclists wearing black business socks..... I'm pleased to report that ever since that day every time i don't feel like changing my socks on the way home from work.... I feel like I am rebelling against you..

What next Raam..... black cycling socks.... your turning into little lance.

Hey, I know I did wrong, but there are some lines that just should not be crossed.

Navy business socks? Why don't you just go to work in your lycra, that way you are ready to go at the drop of a hat. Either that or send out a white sock SOS and lock yourself in the toilet until help arrives.

I've just thrown out all my non-white socks so there should be no more problems ;)

You could've just walked home naked. Much less embarrassing.

i would have thought a euro pro, such as yourself, would always have had a spare pair rolled up in his pocket or down the front of the Lycra....

The ones down the front of the lycra are necessary for other things :) I guess he could have swapped them for the black ones... :)
