    Not Your Ornery Onager

Not being smart, but have you tried 2nd gear instead of 1st? Might help in diagnosing the problem.

I think you have a problem with the selector levers. It is selecting two gears at the same time, locking the box and hence stalling the engine.

Is it colum or floor shift ?

Try putting it into 1st and with the engine off, see if it will roll. If it does your problem is most likely with the external levers, if not it may be internal.

    This sounds about right,
Its a floor shift, tried that there, it dosnt roll.
This a big issue? - Gearboxes wouldn't be my strong point!

...........well the box is pretty straight forward to overhaul but obviously it would need removal. If you check the selector rods outside the box for play and see if you can select gear directly using the lever as it enters the box. There is an inspection flap under the carpet at the front to allow access.

The lever bushings are here and these wear giving all sorts of odd issues, though to be honest I expect the problem is in the selector housing on top of the box.

    Where are you based ?
