I have a 2002 A4 130 bhp for the last 3 years and touch wood the biggest problem I have had is to replace the battery there last week, it was the original which was in it, cost me 95 euro.

Bulbs are the biggest pain in the head but once you download the "how to" guide of net then you will manage it yourself.

The radio has been playing with weak reception but I am going to get a booster for that to see will it sort it.

Bar that I can't say I have any many major problems.

Insist on a full service history and get a car check done online. Any issue with either then don't buy it. I'd insist that the timing belt be done if not already done at that age/mileage. Plenty to choose from so shop around, although when looking for mine, most I saw were poor. Hard to find a good one.

I had a 04 one for 3 years and only had one small issue with the engine management light coming on one. Dealer diagnosed it as a faulty sensor. Other than that it never missed a beat. Only downside was mega expensive dealer services. Course that was in the era of the Celtic Tiger when the dealers felt they could charge what they wanted.
