The pre-season open day is on tomorrow morning at 10:30am at the Sundrive Road track. If you are interested in racing on the (newly resurfaced) track this year, you can get accreditation tomorrow.

Would this suit a person who thinks they have a sprint but has only ridden a fixie 6 times, before taking it apart and being too lazy to reassemble it?

You'll have 6 fixed rides more than many of the people turning up so I wouldn't worry.

Weather forecast isn't great for tomorrow though.

An inquisitive mind made me take it apart, a lazy streak prevented me from putting it back together. As for liking it, I didn't reach the zen state but I didn't find the experience entirely objectionable.

Really, I just need to fix a spoke, a new tire, a new seatpost and a couple of other bits and bobs and I should be ready to rock.

Yes, it's for beginners. I think I'd only done two practice sessions on the track before I raced there for the first time.

... we all think we have a sprint until we get crushed. A lot of the cyclists that will be doing the races regularly train in the UK or Holland ( the ones I know anyway )... if I managed to get good results ( as in: not last ) on my pimped bowery ... woohoo! ...

So, so true. It's one thing to be able to sprint, quite another to be able to do it at the end of hard race.

It's irrelevant now, I have a footieball game at 12.

Is it possible to get accredited later? I am off the bike now for at least the weekend, possibly longer.

It'll probabably be possible to get accredited at a later Saturday training day. I'd get on to them and ask when the next opportunity will be.

    How's the arseal bruising?

It's bad, very bad- thought I was OK but started to feel it the second I got off the bike last night and it only got worse overnight and this morning. Tried to cycle in to work this morning but only got as far as the end of the road... A bit later tried to cycle to the physio but had to give up and flag down a taxi.

Actually to be specific the bruising on the right side is fine, it's just bruising, but there is something very badly wrong on the left side, walking is very painful indeed. Very sharp pain in paticular positions. Went to the physio and she reckons it will get better, has given me some exercises to keep it moving and stop it from stiffening up. Outside chance of a minor fracture, she reckoned get an X-Ray if it gets worse over the weekend.

And to think I said "no stupid risks" at the start of the race

Well to be fair, it sounds like you didn't actually take any risks during the race

but seriously, I hope you heal up soon !

ouch, great post blorg, very descriptive.

I just got my bike back from the doc today, I wrapped it around a tree weeks ago. No need to go into to much details but as far as I can figure I came over a jump, tried to turn into a sharp right on landing but I never made it around. by the time I figured out what was going on the bike was up on top of me, legs and arms twisted in the frame and my face in a football size lump of mud (SO lucky it wasnt a stone or I wouldnt be typing this).
The back tyre had blown out on landing and bar my left elbow i was pretty much brused and bleeding.

It took some shower to clean my bod but at least I didn't land on a road surface like Blorg.... Hope you did no serious damage man (hows the bike?), best of luck with the recovery:(

Thanks for the concern! Bike seems largely OK, cycled back home and only started to feel the pain once I got off. Will have to inspect the carbon handlebars carefully I guess. Just over 35km/h at the point of impact according to the Garmin.
