Reliability is ok but very bad seller and therefore poor resale value.

There is a 06, one owner, 5dr one on Carzone with 29k miles for 5500, and another at 6450. You should be able to do better than 6950.

gearboxes are a weak point, make your warranty will cover this if it goes.

Ive been driving one for three months now no probs, they are a very underated and overlooked car imo.

When i got my one, i taught it would be just another small but reliable jap car i.e. like a micra, but i was pleasantly surprised cause its a little belter.

Its only a 1.1 but the engine is peppy and willing, driving on the motorway the other day i was doing 85mph no probs with no vibration in the cabin.

Best of all its got the fold flat rear seats.

PS you can get them dirt cheap up north and even with the VRT you still make a substanial saving.

The rear seats slide back and forwards on a rail, so you can choose between extra legroom or extra boot space. I've got a Smart ForFour, which is essentially the same car but with styling by Smart and suspension by Mercedes.

I have the 1.1L Mitsubishi engine / manual gearbox and it's suprisingly nippy and handles ok on motorway at speed. (though no small car is exactly ideal for long motorway driving)

I dont know why these cars are a poor seller second hand, but they are.
Seem to be reliable, I would buy one as a second car very cheap and keep it for a long time. An 1.1 black 06 advertised on usedcars ni at 3995 (was 4295) I think that I would offer 3500 sterling for, Dealer would probably be happy to sell at this price to offload it. straight deal. vrt in feb was 1100 euro or there abouts.
