Well, was reading a piece on Lt. Col. Mad Jack Churchill, and I have to say I thought it was brilliant, really just an eccentric with an appetite for action.

Read it yourself, but I want to just put up some highlights.

He Was a British Commando who brought Bow, arrows and a Broadsword to war, in WWII!!! He actually used them, alot. He once said of it that "Any officer who doesn't wear his sword into combat is improperly dressed."

He took 42 German Soldiers POW with nothing but his sword and a Cpl. by his side. Of that he said "I maintain that, as long as you tell a German loudly and clearly what to do, if you are senior to him he will cry ‘jawohl’ and get on with it enthusiastically and efficiently whatever the … situation. That’s why they make such marvelous soldiers...”

He was just a General Ass kicker.

He was Taken POW by the Germans, decided he didn't like it, so escaped. They caught him again near the sea, he probably let them so they would'nt get in trouble, and then decided to leave again, before walking to Italy from Austria, traveling 150 miles!!!

Now that is one bad ass man all round. That is simply a small amount of what he did too.

Anyone have anymore stories on lads like him?
