a great resource for its day . It is now threatened as Geocities is closing down this year due to lack of interest .

Who runs it? Can't (s)he get either free host from their ISP or pay €30 p.a. for it?

I'd be happy to host it on my US host though.

wget -r probably saves most of it :)

No... something more complex unless you want to download all of Geocities!

wget -r -np <name of arbitary website> should do it

If you don't have linux you can down load wget for Windows. Add the "bin" install loction to your path in "right click" | "my computer" | environment variables | system | path
use in a cmd window in folder you want to save in.

Lack of interest or a Yahoo! tiny cost saving?

There are many many free hosting sites out there. To start with, take a look at Weebly:

The first site I thought of when I heard the news about GeoCities. Great content there.

    Thanks

Who indeed had already saved a large chunk of geocities. I wonder how much is in the "wayback" machine?

    http://web.archive.org/web/*/geocities.com

    2001 22366 pages

Of course if we are Both struck by lightning.
