The Ford/Visteon plant in Belfast has been occupied by the employees since 31st March when the administers moved in to tell everyone to leave immediatly.
Belfast,Enfield and Basildon were the last 3 plants to bear the Visteon brand after Ford Motor Company spun it off as a seperate company in 2000.

The Belfast plant had healthy order books but production has been moved to the Philipines and South Africa.
The South African plant makes Fuel Rails that are fitted to petrol engined Ford vehicles. A fuel rail is classed as a critical component and is rigorously tested to ensure that it does not leak petrol into the engine compartment.

The leak testing equipment for these fuel rails remains in the Belfast plant.
