Hi, bit embarassing but ehh, Ive noticed recently that when Im sitting down for more than half an hour my bum sweats a lot. It leaves a patch on the chair too! :S

What could cause this and how can I avoid it?

    Thanks

Don't sit down for more than half-an-hour?

Talcum Powder will help with the sweating.

Have a look at what your water and salt intake is and your over all general fitness and get cotton underwear.

Another unhelpful post from sardineta, never ceases to amaze me why someone would come into a personal issues forum to act like a smartarse.

OP, I'm not sure of your gender but is your backside hairy? Could act as extra insulation and make it more liable to sweat, I've a couple of mates with very hairy chests and backs who have to change shirts twice daily on summer days, they've taken to waxing and say its very effective.

Point duly noted. I didn't think it worthy of reporting, merely noting it as unhelpful.

Have you tried tying your jumper around your waist and sitting on that? (if you're still in school/college)

You'll find that it's mostly condensation and is very common when the hot weather sets in.

When you get out of the shower make sure you dry everywhere properly, use some talcum powder & cotton underwear that's not too tight.
Also the fact that you are concious of it now is probably making you sweat more due to stress so try to relax about it.
If you have done all this then google a specialised deordorant used for that area.
If you think it's a medical condition go to your GP & they will advise you from there but I have heard of people getting Botox to stop excessive sweating. I don't know how effective it is or the risks involved but again your GP should be able to help you with that.

    OP here again,

Yeah Im a guy, 18 and in school.

So cotton underwear and talcum powder seem to be big runners.
As regards the other question, ehhm not incredibly hairy but somewhat.

    Thanks for the replies

eh, weirdest question ever coming up... but what size patch are you leaving?

If its school, im guessing its a wooden chair type thing. Are you talking about little dampish patches? (like when you breath onto a window/mirror)

If so, loads of people do that, thats just a heat thing.

Keep looking online, bet you'll come up with something.

    g'luck

    Ah the awl' Swamp-Ass.

So does this happen every time you sit down? If you went to clean yourself would it happen again in another hour? That would be a bit unusual. Its quite a bit more common if say you had just been for a jog or walk or (eww) you improperly cleaned yourself after a bathroom break.

+1 to cotton underwear. A switch from briefs to boxers might help.

The problem with talc is it turns to cake with a lot of moisture , caldeseen powder ( I spelt it how it sounds not sure on the proper spelling) will cake as well but it has an anti bacterial in it (afaik) so it will stop you getting an infection plus it will help stop a smell from developing , , a lot of chairs can cause these sort of problems (most of which are the cheap sort you find in schools)

Don't worry too much about it, if you're after spending your lunchbreak running around and you come into a warm classroom on a sunny afternoon you're bound to do a bit of sweating.

I remember in school we used to have those dark grey plastic chairs and on warm days in late spring/early summer I'd often leave a little condensation on the seat, it's natural enough, that's a very warm part of your body!
