solicitors letter

    hi everyone
im looking for advice regarding a solicitors letter i received today

i planted a hedge in along my boundary line a few weeks ago, at the moment it is not even a foot high and the day i planted it my neighbours son came out and we had a chat about the height etc, his mothers bedroom is overlooking my front garden and she was worried that the hedge will block the light to her room, i told him it will be a few yrs anyway before the hedge grows to the height of the window but i cant see a problem with keeping it low around that area and nothing more has been said, all very civil

today a received a solicitor letter acting for my neighbours mother stating that we have planted "trees" and said trees are "obstructing the view from their clients window and which have diminished the light to their clients bedroom"

where do i stand with this? firstly the hedge isnt even a high as their wall (which is 5ft) and i already said i would keep it to the height of the wall.. now they are asking that i remove the "trees" and replant them elsewhere

now i want my hedge at least 10ft! i am very angry at the moment but i want to know if they have any right demanding that i remove my hedge which is planted on my property and not encroaching on their property at all... is there a right to light/view in irish law?

i want to go over to them a try and settle this amicably but i want to know my rights before i do...

    thanks
