Huge NCT activity today?

    Logged onto NCT site yesterday no problem, made a booking for Deansgrange for about a fortnight from now. Loads of slots available from the day I picked, forward.

    Decided today I wanted to change it to the next day instead, which I saw yesterday had 53 slots available.

    Logged on this morning and saw that the NCT web site was effectively down, with a message about overwhelming demand 'due to the recent announcement', and their phone line was engaged constantly.

    Finally got onto their web site this evening, and see that there is now not a single slot available in Deansgrange for the next 5 weeks, where yesterday there were literally hundreds.

    Did I miss something? Yes the points are coming in May, but this was announced last week, anyone know why there was a sudden rush today??

    A lot of people get their wages on a thursday, perhaps they presumed it had to be payed at the time of booking so all rushed in today, who know's. Funny thing is there must have been tens of thousands of cars going around with no NCT and no intention of getting an NCT previous to the announcement.

    Yeah I was going to book mine this morning, couldnt get onto the website and wasnt sure was my car registered with them.

    Cant find anything in galway or athlone for as long as the system will let me see (mid June). I was on the site yesterday and all! Damn

    I also got nct booking online yesterday for 6th May in deansgrange. Fonthill and Naas centre were booked out till June. Spaces for Deansgrange must have filled up very quick

    Wonder what happens if the car fails the test, and you cant get a booking to have it retested in the 30 days allowed ?
