Heroes Season 4 - Shorter and in One Block

I like the sound of this. Looks like heroes is going the route of Lost and 24, showing the whole season in one continuous block. The next season will also be shorter (18-20 instead of 22-25).
Despite its ratings struggles this year, "Heroes" is a pretty safe bet to return to NBC next season. But it might not get as many episodes as it has in the past.

That's the word, anyway, from Advertising Age, which says the network is considering a run of "18 to 20 episodes" for 2009-10. The magazine also says NBC is looking at running the season in one long block, a la "24" on FOX or "Lost" on ABC.

Both ideas would bring fairly significant changes to the series. The first season of "Heroes" had 23 episodes, and this season, which concludes Monday (April 27), will have 25. The writers strike cut season two short at 11 episodes, but NBC had initially ordered 24.

Fans of the series have also had to endure some lengthy hiatus time. There was a seven-week break, for instance, between the two volumes of this season.

dammit you beat me to it!"

Still 16 episodes instead of 25 will hopefully mean less filler

i thik they should bang out 2-3 chapters a season, i see no reason why they couldnt, i would think there is enough ideas put out there about heroes in many different forms to make 2 very good chapters next season,

personally it wouldnt bother me if they recycled some obvious stuff, as long as its adapted well and works for heroes, i think in trying to create new ideas there sacrificing the quailty of the show, a bit of recycling never damaged shows before, have the ecellent new ideas, and adapt some ideas that have worked in comics, series or film,

also they shouldnt really use all the heroes in evry chapter, a bit of mixing and matching wouldnt go astray, i see no reason for any caracter (bar HRG) couldnt go missing for a chapter and return for the next,

any word on how many chapters will be in season 4

It's funny you should say that, most of the ideas in Heroes that have worked at all have been cribbed to some extent for other media. Which is fine when done well, but that doesn't apply to most of Heroes from season 2 onwards...

I disagree. I think building tension over time is more effective than banging out quick-burst stories. The New York bomb of Season One is yet to be rivalled....

that was a good story but season 1 had 4-6 useless eps near the end that could have been avoided,

people are on about stories being draged out by useing filler eps,

so how do the writer know what to do, youd have to introduce a few new heroes, as the first half of season 1 was learning who the heroes are,

There were a few fillers in season one, yeah but they didn't detract from the tension really. Just veered away from it for a while.

Unfortunately, the writers have shown in Volumes 2 and 3 that they're not great at introducing new characters. Arthur Petrelli, Flint, Knox, Daphne, West, Maya, Alejandro and probably a few more. The only ones that remain alive are West and Maya, and they've been ditched from the show for being crap anyway. Volume 4 gave us Danko though, and he's pretty great.... Can't see him surviving An Invisible Thread though.....

Wait, so does this mean one long Season 1-esque volume or two very short ones?

    I want a long one.

but season 1 was it was new, and they had to develope caracters, and introduce us to the world of heroes, they really have to have a good idea of where they want the show to go, and make an interesting story of it, and not some shallow excuse,

season 1 was amazing no doubth, but could you keep that tension without having to develop all the caracters, think how much time was used to do this,

season 2 was short, and not very good

they need to dump half the characters, and give the others personal lives that viewers can relate to.
