    Hey,

Lookin' to buy a scope for my Aug A3 - any recommendations? Something I can buy in Ireland.

    Thanks,

    Derek

If you are only using it for CQB you could try a red dot sight, something like this. If you plan on using it for long range maybe something like this.

It looks the biz with an Eotech sight. you could also go for a magnified RIS scope which suits the railed look nicely. i'd say you'll get more use from a red dot though. :)

you could go with both a scope AND a red dot. i have a red dot mounted on top of my scope, so look in the red dot for quick and dirty firing, and into the scope for spotting and longer range shooting. with rails like the A3, it really screams out for attachments. its great.

I'm in the same situation - newbie with an AUG A3, having found that the iron sights that come with it are an insult to the word sights, let alone the word iron. I chose the gun partly because of its flexibility for use both at range and at close quarters, and have been wondering what to do with it.

I haven't heard much in general about lasers, which I'd have expected to be ideal for up-close-and-personal stuff. Is there a reason (retina safety, for example) they don't seem to get much use? I'd have thought a laser underneath or on the side and something with a bit of magnification up top would be ideal, but of course I don't actually know what I'm talking about.

What's a good set-up for both close-quarters and long range that doesn't require swapping the top rail hardware out every time?

i have found with shooting the airsoft guns (and real ones) that at most short range engagments a short scope with a low magnification max 3/4x is best and where posible has a large front lens to allow max light gathering, thus enabling you to shoot in low light conditions!

I would say Thermo is right. In airsoft, you don't really need more than 3 or 4x. If you want more zoom, get something like a 3-9x40 and change the magnification depending on whether it is CQB or long range.

Hey all - thanks for the advice - I ended up getting a TASCO 1x30 Red Dot Scope and it seems to be on the money - now if I can solve this misfiring problem!

the missfiring is probably the hop-up not seated correctly. seperate the front section of the gun, then take off the ras. this then allows you to remove the barrel in the same way as the A1. you should find the little screws holding the hop up and inner barrel into the outer barrel. try removing the hop up rubber and re-seating it accurately. i find this a bit tricky myself, and usually takes a few gos.
re having loose bb's when you remove the mag, this is always the case. you will have 4 bb's come loose when you remove the mag.

good luck with your new scope. it should make a huge difference.

    Hi,

I'm using a Tasco 3-9x40 for woodland skimishes and being quite happy with it although I'm planning to change it for a 2.5-10x50 for better FOV. Here's a picture with the scope on:

    About the feeding problem:
If you are still using the original high cap magazine that's one of the major sources. Try some mid caps (TM if you can afford them but I'm using King Arms low caps and they work fine). Also, when you get some spare chash try getting a part called "Iban Speed Nipple", It's the little part that connects the magazine feeding port with the hopup and corrects the flaw from the original part.
