.....I tried on Kayano and Evolution 4 and they both felt comfy......video analysis in Amphibian King gives me as a neutral tending to over-pronation....then I went to Irish Fit in DunLaoghaire and the physio there sais I have biomechanics issues to solve.....in the meantime I need new shoes as I need to get read of a pair of painful 2130......

.....I found lots of threads on kayano and reviews are generally positive....any experience out there with Evolution 4?.....anyway are Foundation 8 just a different colour from Evolution or what? ....any take on Gel-3000?

Evolution and Foundation are both heavy motion control shoes, so I'm not sure if either would be appropriate if you are only a mild overpronator. I'd check that with your physio first though.

ASAIK Kayano are for Over pronators. You say you are (like me) neutral, with a slight overpronation. Did they recomend Nimbus. I also went to Amphibian King and was recomended Nimbus. Went through 2 pairs of Nimbus 9's last year and on 1st pair of Nimbus 10 now. I find them great. Injury free since too.

    Just touched wood there

....to be honest I wasn't overly impressed with the technology or competence in Amphibian King......running 5 meters in front of a camera is not going to be sufficient to get you in any running rithm that could possibly show the real biomechanics of your feet.........anyway they suggested the evolution first and then the Kayano......neither felt particularly different from my 2130...but then I had them on for 5 mins only......never tried the Nimbus....but I think I would prefer something with a bit more support anyway......the 3000 seems to be between the 2130 and the Kayano......at least according to the asics website!:confused:

At Amphibian King we get you to run on a track as oppossed to a treadmill because it is far more realistic to running outside. A Treadmill absorbs too much of the impact and gives an unnatural gait as you are not propelling yourself forward more keeping up with a moving track. We do have a treadmill and obvioulsy it would be much more effiecent use of space to use a treadmill but we prefer to give a more realistic feel. We've used specially designed treadmills (which cost over 4k) on loan and didn't feel it was as acurate.

I'm surprised to hear that you were recommended the Asics Gel Evloution because we don't actually stock that shoe. We have ordered it for customers who required it but it's not something we stock. Our Motion control shoes that we carry are Brooks Beast NB 859 Mizuno Alchemy. Are you sure it was Amphibian King you were in? The Kayano we do stock and would bring it out for a mild overponator but not the Evolution.

    Damian.

maybe it was an inexperienced staff member?mistakes can happen,i know that Noangel72 was looking for a wide fitting shoe so maybe this is why the Evolution was offered !!!
good to see Damian replying to the post.... :)

........The evolution 4 was definitely one of the only 2 models I was offered....and it was definetly AK in Bray....unless I smoked too much that particular morning:rolleyes:!.......anyway, I am sure lots of customers leave AK perfectly satisfied........going back to the shoes issue, I think I will look at a 3000 Asics and at some muscle excercise to improve muscle balance.......thanks to all for the advice!

Just a quick update that could benefit other people!

After walking out of Amphibian King scarcely convinced of their knowledge and little impressed with their suggestion of a pair of runners that came close to €140, I decided to perform my own gait analysis, with the aid of a camera and using the treadmill in my local gym. The result convinced me to buy a pair of GT3000, at a very reasonable price of €65 from Ebay, and to practice weekly running drills at my local track!
Results were immediate, no more knee pain on the 5k or indeed the 15k!

I would strongly recommend the Asics GT3000, great shoes!....and don’t blindly believe the experts, especially when they own sport shops!

    Hi Noangel72,

Sorry to hear that you thought my advice wasn't any good. I did study shoe science in New Zealand and worked under one of their most highly rated Podiatrist there for over a year and have been running Amphibian King for nearly 3 years. We do stock the 3000 and our moto is "putting you in the best shoe not the most expensive shoe".

I'm glad things have worked out for you with the 3000, did you ask to try that particular shoe in Amphibian King when you went in the second time?
